Sonoma County Chipper Program
HomeownersPermit Sonoma, Fire Prevention Division (Sonoma County government)
Free to eligible residents (up to two hours of chipping, with pre-approval for a second visit)
Free curbside chipping for residents of unincorporated Sonoma County who have cut vegetation to create defensible space around their home, other structures, and driveway access routes. You stack the material to spec at the roadside and reserve a slot by county zone; a crew comes out and chips it. The county is accepting reservations for the 2026 season. Chips are left on your property for you to spread — the crew does not haul them away. Properties inside incorporated cities are not eligible.
