Where is your property?

Programs are state-specific — pick yours and we'll pull every one on file.

Browse every program by state and county

70 county programs across 53 counties in 10 states, plus state programs in 25 states and 3 federal programs. Each one checked against the agency that runs it and dated, because county wildfire money lives on fire safe council and public works pages that no aggregator keeps current.

We are straight about the gaps too: 26 states have no state-run program on file, and the county layer covers the 10 western states we have researched so far. Those pages lead with the federal and insurance layers, which are real everywhere.

Funding checker FAQ

Are wildfire mitigation grants real?

Yes — many states run cost-share programs through their forestry agencies (often reimbursing 50% of defensible-space work), two states offer dedicated wildfire-mitigation tax credits, and federal programs like USDA EQIP cost-share fuel reduction on qualifying land. Funding levels change year to year and some programs exhaust their budgets mid-cycle, which is why every result in this checker links to the program source so you can verify current availability.

Do I have to pay anything to use this checker?

No. The checker is free, the results show immediately without giving any contact information, and emailing yourself the report is optional. FireRisk.ai is only ever compensated if you separately request a contractor quote and complete a job — never for the checker or the report.

Will these programs cover all of my mitigation costs?

Usually not all — most grants are cost-share (a percentage, up to a cap), tax credits return part of what you spend, and insurance savings accrue annually. Together they can meaningfully reduce the real cost of the work, which is why it pays to check before getting quotes.

How current is the program data?

Program details shown were last reviewed June 2026. Because program budgets open and exhaust during the year, always confirm availability with the program itself before making plans — every result includes the official source where one exists.
