How current is this fire tracker?
We re-check NIFC's interagency feed and the National Weather Service every few minutes, but the records themselves are field-reported — agencies typically update each fire several times a day, and a fire's mapped location is its reported point, not its live edge. It covers the large and significant incidents agencies are tracking; very small or brand-new local fires may not appear instantly. During an active fire, follow your local authority's official channels for evacuation instructions.
