Summit County residents stack branches, logs and small trees (under 12 inches diameter) at the roadside during their neighborhood's assigned week and county crews chip and haul it away at no charge — removing the biggest practical barrier to creating defensible space. Limits are 10 piles per property, each no more than 5 feet high by 5 feet wide, stacked by 8 a.m. Monday of your week. It runs on an annual seasonal schedule; the 2026 season ran June 1 through July 24, so watch for the 2027 neighborhood schedule.
