Why are sizes in hectares?
Canadian agencies measure fires in hectares, so that is what we show on Canadian pages. One hectare is about two and a half acres.
Are U.S. fires on this map too?
Yes — near the border the map shows both countries, each from its own official source (NIFC for the U.S., CWFIF for Canada). Counts are always labeled by country and never blended.
