The county contracts and pays for hazardous-fuels and defensible-space treatment on private property, and the owner pays only 25% of the contract price. Capped at 10 acres per property and one treatment per current owner. If your slash is hand-cut into piles, you also put down a $500-per-acre deposit and are responsible for burning the piles on schedule to get it back. Owners must maintain the treated area for at least 10 years. Running since 2006 and funded for the 2026 field season; demand exceeds supply, so expect a waitlist.
